a few things that curl hit right on but most Chinese DIYers have missed:
a) "要效果好,低效 率的A類放大是唯一的選擇。": in the less than 20w rms range, nothing beats SE Class A. and most of us listen in the 1-5w rms range.
b) "输出级晶体不宜加稳压": it is extremely difficult to design a regulator that can power a high performance power amp. Unfortunately, the Chinese DIY community seems to be going the exact opposite.
c) "純直流擴大機不易量產": I never understood people's fascination with DC-coupled amplifiers. our speakers cannot reproduce DC, our hears cannot hear DC, and there is no DC content in music but DC coupled amplifiers open your equipment up for huge damages, should a DC offset show up on your speaker terminals.
my take on the rest of the article:
a) PCB designs: I am of the view that as long as your amps are a/c stable, and have the appropriate grounding, pcb layout in the audio frequencies isn't as big of a deal as Curl made it out to be;
b) Mosfet vs. bjt: BJT wins hands down in terms of thd performance. mosfets are much harder to drive across their range. However, mosfets are more more robost and hard to destroy (other than the digital type mosfets, ie irf540N likes).
end of the day, I don't think electronics is the limiting factor in sound reproduction. speakers and recording media are. |
