Hi guys! I'm a Russian engineer, my name is E1. Our little developing group prepared an opened hardware (HW) and free IOS app (Android app is coming soon) for subwoofer's DSP control. HW is the 30x40mm 2 layers PCBA with 2 IC's - CC2540 Ti BLE, and UADAU1761 AD DSP. This tiny PCBA is able to complete replace an analog crossover, limiter-compressor, Auto On/Off circuit and others functions commonly used in a typical subwoofer. The iWoofer HW PCBA need only 5VDC (or 3.3VDC) power with 32mA current, so it is quite easy to meet Energy Star requirements for the standby mode. We provide a full source pack for iWoofer HW for free, there is Schematic, PCB (Altium 14), and firmware ROM for the cc2540. Free IOS app you can find on appstore. The BOM of the HW PCBA will be around 15-20RMB for good MP quantity, i.e. comparable with usual subwoofer preamp cost, plus wireless control with a smartphone. The app allows you to adjust numerous DSP parameters, saving/import(from www)/export(to email) presets. You may adjust frequency and order(2/4/8) of LPF and HPF, 25pcs parametric EQ's, compressor-limiter, subharmonic synthesizer, dynamic bass, phase (1st APF), delay, Auto On/Off threshold and hold On time. Yes, it is a toy essentially as all audio products. 30+ years thousands subwoofer's factories produce the same product - rear panel with one knob (HPF), and one switch (phase 0/180dg). I've no idea why somebody still buying that? Who will buy original iPhone today, 10 years after release? I offer an upgrade things creatively. The upgrade almost not affects a BOM cost and makes product modern and convenient, don't need to down on a lap if you go to adjust HPF on the rear panel. By the way, iWoofer 100 times cheaper than Dirac room correction but our latency 3 times better, and iPhone's microphone used for frequency response measurement.

We considered that case too, however, a full range HI-FI market is quite picky for a sound quality. Even if our formal specs - THD, S/N etc is good, many users will complain about the sound is boring, sour or bitter. So we decided to stay on subwoofer control system. We have orders from customers for a full range systems but without room correction yet, only filters, delays, compressors etc.
